1. Know your target audience 
 
By looking at your audience demographics from your social media or website’s data, you can consider who your team should be talking to. Research the data your business has to find out more about your audience such as; what demographic is currently visiting your website, does your desired demographic use Facebook, what is their job title, which hobbies or topics interest them and where is their geographic location? 
 
After you have found the data to answer these questions, you can write directly to them, their needs and how your product or service solves their problem. 
 
2. Write short and simple content 
 
Write using simple words that are easy to read and understand. It is important to write your content to fit the character limits, so your text isn’t cut off and users can see it all at once. Facebook ad character limits are: 
 
25 characters for a headline 
30 characters for a link description 
125 characters for ad copy (primary text) 
 
3. Always choose a call to action (CTA) to match your strategy 
 
The Call to Action (CTA) is one of the most important elements of an ad. It may be different depending on your final goal. For instance, if you are trying to drive conversions or build brand awareness your CTA should be clear and concise. 
 
4. Include your URL 
 
Facebook requires you to include your website in the website box, but it is also good practice to include it with your ad copy. The more options someone has to click a link the more likely you are to get a conversion. 
 
5. Test your ad copy 
 
The only way to know if your ad is performing at its best is to run split tests. Split testing, also known as A/B testing, is a controlled experiment used for improving metrics such as; clicks, conversions, or purchases. Split testing is an effective method used when creating ads. A small aspect is modified to see what really makes a difference in driving more sales or traffic and how it impacts the overall results. If your business doesn’t split test before making final changes or other important decisions involving your marketing campaign, you are relying on guesswork which is extremely ineffective.
